West Side Story

West Side Story

This time of year, our resident horticulturist, Sauce, has a theory that drink floral cocktails helps the weather. This was clearly illustrated this week when we woke up to snow, but hey I’m more than happy to help her keep trying. Rose water is a perfect ingredient so long as you have a light hand with it. This drink is a twist on a classic Romeo and Juliet.

Equipment: muddler, shaker, strainer, coupe glass

2 oz gin

¾ oz fresh lime juice

¾ oz honey syrup

3 drops rose water

6 dashes Angostura bitters

4 sprigs mint

3 slices cucumber

Pinch of sea salt

Gently muddle 3 sprigs of mint with cucumber and pinch of sea salt in shaker tin. Add gin, lime, honey syrup, rose water and 3 dashes Angostura bitters. Shake with ice for 20 seconds and strain into coupe glass. Garnish with a mint leaf topped with 2-3 drops of Angostura bitters. Cheers!
